Delhi – Jaipur –Agra – Orchha – Khajuraho – Varanasi – Delhi

This is an exclusive trip around the Northern and Central part of India. These regions have witnessed the rise and fall of the great Indian Empires, and cultural development from ancient times to the present day. Great Hindu epics were written here and the Hindu life style first developed; Buddhism and Jainism took their shape and Islam grew.

The trip starts with the charm of bustling Delhi, then takes you to the pinkcity of Jaipur famous for its beautifully coloured buildings and markets. Admire the greatness of Mughal architecture at city of romance Agra. Experience the flavour of Bundelkhand culture and history in the hidden city, Orchha. Admire the remarkable architecture at the beautifully carved Erotic temples of Khajuraho. Flow with the ancient, spiritual and colourful life of Varanasi with pilgrims undertaking their daily rituals on the Ganges ghats, and spend time in Sarnath, the birth place of Buddhist philosophy where Buddha gave his first sermons.

Day 1-2 Delhi

India’s capital Delhi is a hub for politics, business and culture. It is busy and chaotic, but always retains its charm. Historical sites, museums, religious places and markets make this the perfect place to begin your travels in India.

Trip orientation will fill you with details about the trip. Your two days in this charming city include a guided history walk through the narrow streets and markets of Old Delhi and visit of some of the exciting attractions such as India Gate, President’s House and Kutub Minar. If you wish to see more in your free time you can pick your options out of  Humanyun’s tomb, Lotus temple, Gandhi museum, Akshardham temple and exploring the modern parts of Delhi.

Day 3-4 Jaipur

Step into Jaipur today, the capital of Rajasthan. named the ‘Pink City’ after the vibrant hues of its buildings, Jaipur was the first planned city of India and is world famous for its beautiful architecture.

Navigate the narrow winding streets to immerse in the beauty of the colourful bazaars, sip a cup of Masala chai in a street shop, and pass through the ‘Palace of Winds’ Hawa Mahal a five story old building with hundreds of windows. Visit the striking Amber Fort situated outside the city and admire the Jantar Mantar observatory which is a captivating World Heritage site. If you are interested to do and see more catch a Bollywood movie with the locals, visit the fascinating City Palace Museum and explore the local markets providing plenty of opportunities for souvenir shopping.

Day 5  Agra

Journey to the Mughal city of Agra, a marvellous blend of romance and beautiful architecture. You will have a guided tour of historical Agra Fort where you can admire the exquisite architecture of the Mughal empire. Then visit Taj Mahal, the symbol of love built by the Mughal King Shahjahan in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaj.

Day 6-7  Orchha

Travel to Orchha. For next two days breathe with the glorious history of Bundelkhand region, visit the beautiful Orchha Palace and experience the Hindu rituals in the local temples. In your free time you can explore the streets and markets or go for rafting depending upon the season. You also have an opportunity of learn some Indian cooking skills in an optional cooking demonstration.

Day 8  Khajuraho

Drive to Khajuraho and explore the beautifully carved temples which narrate the stories of Hindu gods, epics and demonstrate some of the postures of the Kama Sutra. Take a brief miniature painting lesson with a local artist in your free time.

Day 9-10  Varanasi

We take a 7-8 hours drive to one of the oldest living cities in the world, Varanasi. It is the heart of Hindu life style, and the city of the Holy Ganga. Take a walk around its narrow streets, enjoy the delicious treats in the local sweet shops, walk around the Ghats and experience the ancient spirituality. Take an evening boat trip on the Holy Ganga, take part in a sunset flower ceremony and join the crowed for evening worship. In your free time visit Sarnath, the place where Buddha gave his first sermons, and explore the colourful bazaars.

Day 11 Delhi

Fly back to Delhi and check in at the hotel. Have some rest and enjoy your free time with shopping, or explore New Delhi and visit some interesting sites.

Day 12 Departure

There are no planned activities today, but we will be happy to help you organise other activities and sightseeing. Please confirm check out time from hotel reception. If you wish to extend your stay in Delhi, we can book additional accommodation if you notify us at the time of booking.

Anything which is not mentioned in the inclusions list will be paid by you, as passengers, such as: International flights, a valid travel insurance, visa fee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, meals not included in the itinerary, single supplement, pre- and post- accommodation, hotel extras (Laundry, mini bar, spa) , tipping, optional activities, camera fee at the monuments, additional transportation, etc.
Political disturbance, strikes, riots , evacuations, natural disasters, accidents, sickness, cancellations or delays, or rescheduling of trains/flights, etc. are some of the reasons which are beyond our control, thus Horizon Journeys will not be able to bear any expenses caused by any of the above reasons. In case any of the above situations occur, all expenses will be incurred by the passenger.
